Sample usage of the SmoothWheel Firefox Addon. The only input is scrolling of the mouse wheel.

Notice two things:
1. The actual wheel scroll events are barely noticeable
2. The scroll motion varies dynamically (slow and readable to fast and snappy)

Demonstration settings (version 0.44.19...):
- Speed: Easy (1/2 sec)
- Step-Size: 1/5 page
- The rest of the setting are the defaults.

  • This add-on is nice but you can actually do the same by simply clicking on the mouse wheel.

  • @Genkuro, you can also scroll down by dragging the scrollbar. However, scrolling the mouse wheel has different mechanics and feel than clicking the wheel and dragging it (called "Autoscroll" BTW). There are many ways to scroll and SmoothWheel tries to improve one of them. Some like it.

  • This works like shit!! It works very slowly and then it jamms to much! Sometimes it slowly starts to scroll web page and jamms very much! I don't know if there's any way to fix it but this is very annoying! I want it ti work like it works on this video, but right now it really doesn't work like that...not even close, any ideas how to fix it??

I have Firefox 5.0 and my mouse is Cyborg R.A.T 9

  • Autoscroll is good, but annoying that you have to click everytime, and an accidental mouse move drags you to a different part of the screen, so I am definitely getting this

  • where are the options for the wheel

  • This is surprisingly a very useful add-on. Basically I use an 1800 dpi Razer Deathadder mouse at a high sensitivty as well as a high mouse wheel scrolling sensitivity for gaming. However, the high scrolling speed causes me to fly from one end of the screen and makes scrolling extremely choppy. This add-on allows me to fix that problem without toning down the sensitivity of my mouse wheel, subsequently hindering my gaming experience. Thank you dev.

  • @vvabi Yup!!! And it's bad enough when you use another computer without firefox!

  • This works great with Firefox 3.6 in Ubuntu Linux! Maybe flash-intensive sites not perfect, but that's probably another issue - not smoothwheels fault. Keep it up!

  • Great Firefox extension. Once you start using it, you can't live without it.
