  • You should carry a copy of the railway byelaws, the only document to mention rail photography.

It is also the only document which says that filming/photography is permitted for personal use!

You should go back and show it to her.

  • Ughh...more ridiculousness. I quote, from the British Transport Police website, the following guidlelines: "Photography

You are allowed to take photographs on stations if it is for personal use." - which includes film. Carrying a copy of it may be of use, but it is totally unnecessary.

  • @trainmad77 HAHAHA! =D

  • If she says not on the platform then she means go on the rails

  • I take photos on a platform

  • You're not allowed to take pictue, but could you do a painting? Wouldn't it be great to set p an easel and sit there dabbing away at the paper? Fuck em. If you can see it with your eyes without trespassing or putting people in danger, then you can film it.

  • FILMING IS ALLOWED ON STATIONS IN THE UK

    See this link: wwwDOTbtpDOTpoliceDOTuk/passengers/advice_and_information / rail_enthusiastsDOTaspx

(Replace capital word DOT with a full stop & remove any spaces)

  • Obviously, just because someone says you are not allowed to do something it does not make it so. Perhaps you could ask what authority they have to enfore their order or whether it is merely a request. I've noticed that sometimes these statements are worded as requests as in ...'the public are requested to not use photography' and then the staff take it that this means it's an order of some sort.

  • Not allowed to take pictures of a platform?! Do these people know that us Enthusiasts like to take pictures of Railway engines? Bloody nora
