One undeniable characteristic about the Telecaster is that it's a very simple instrument. Because it's such a dry sounding guitar, there is no hiding your mistakes. Here's a little video of me running through some improvised stuff with an aggressive attack.

  • hey Paul - what other things do you throw in your signal chain?

    thanks!

  • @spanky10940 I normally don't use anything between the guitar and amp. For recording, I'll add a bit of compression, reverb and sometimes delay at the mixing board. If I play live, I'll run my pedal board through the effects loop of my amp. My pedal board only has chorus, reverb & delay.

  • What I've never understood about Teles and Strats (or, some SG Standards, for that matter) - the most important part of the wood is covered completely by a plastic pick guard. Any idea why?

  • @daletag It makes it a bit simpler to build.

  • what kind of magnets your pickups are made with?

  • @Mysteriousheart Depending on what kind of sound & output I want, I'll use different strengths of Alnico or Ceramic magnets.

  • teles rock man ive got an old tele thats 10 years old from when i started playing its got fender custom shop pickups in it and it kicks ass and excellent shredding

  • @fulivius upss, the island thing was for riffguy. I cant imagine his neighbours been happy with that wall of marshalls.

  • @superpacko kinda the second, but in the countryside rather than an island, but why?

  • @fulivius mmmm he's ok. But for a real tele shred you should check some mike stern or richie kotzen stuff.

By the way, do u get along well with your neighbours or u live in an desert island?

  • @bakelyo I would stick with single coils, if you're really worried about the extra noise get a noise gate.

I've played single coils and hum-cancelling single coils (pretty much single-size humbuckers) and the single coils always have more clarity over the hum-cancelling.

Check out bareknuckle pickups. They have some really nice stuff there.

  • nice! now i want a tele, any suggestions on what to use for pickups?

  • nice! now i want a tele
