I first heard this lovely song about two years ago, I have heard it quite a few times since then and it has really got under my skin - the melody is very beautiful and sounds like it could have been written five hundred years ago. Marvelous, thanks for posting.

@passer59 nobody cares what we (both) like or dislike. but why not share _why_ we prefer some things to others. i assume you like this music. could you please tell me how do you treat the fact that the singer is out of tune?
guess you might:
- enjoy it (as an artistic effect)
- deny it (not out of tune - just quatertone scales)
- not mind it (because it doesn't matter for the subjective result)
- not perceive it
or maybe you don't care for the music and just like ironic comments? ;)

@Eirikursson A pennywhistle - I saw him do this live a long time ago. In fact I took a photo of him playing it on this tune.

Heartbreakingly beautiful, passionate & timeless...my 17-year-old mind in my now 60-year-old body thanks you with tears of happiness. Remarkable vision and bright joy.

So lovely to listen to this again...enchantment indeed!!!

uhhmmm... i won't become a fan of that band surely. (found it by Pentangle connections). I can't stand the feeling that this Incredible String Band makes a parody of something and i can't get the joke because of my ignorance. ;p
But seriously, i thought i am really friendly to imperfection in music, but this vocal is too much to my ears. Emotions and style seem very true, but such performance is far below my preference, and i'm pretty surprised it's not painful for so many youtubers below.

@odolany The shrewd acuity of your insight is a gift with which you've blessed us all. Thanks for sharing - you've enhanced the experience for all of us who just go around liking stuff without the benefit of your finely-honed critical skills.

what kind of flute is playing in the beginning?
Eirikursson 4 months ago
@Eirikursson According to the sleeve notes it's a whistle. Referred to on other albums as a "penny whistle".
