Jerusalem
As sung at the Last Night of The Proms

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green
And was the holy lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen

And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark Satanic mills

Bring me my bow of burning gold
Bring me my arrows of desire
Bring me my spears o'clouds unfold
Bring me my chariot of fire

I will not cease from mental fight
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
'Til we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land
'Til we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land

Words written by William Blake
Music by Charles Hubert Hastings Parry

  • Magic total magic

  • @blackandproud75 It's people like you that encourage racism. Bravo.

  • @blackandproud75 you're right mate, I've never heard of the Industrial revolution either. Nor the theory of evolution. Nor keynesian economics. Nor the telephone, or the world wide web, or the lightbulb, to name a few. Brits, definitely never invented anything or gave anything to the world...

  • Wow what's with the Flemish and Norman flags?

  • How poignant these words are now in the backdrop of major cities around England descending into chaos.... "and was Jerusalem builded here, among those dark satanic mills?" I know the real England will prevail over hoodlums and criminals.

  • I just cried, this just makes me feel so patriotic. ENGLISH GIRL AND PROUD.

  • @stillavril

good thing. There are few national anthems that are not about war, Empire or opression. The brazilian anthem is one of them. There should be more anthems about celebrating your homeland instead of celebrating bloody conflicts.

  • @libra61060

I prefer Rule Britannia. Anyway, wouldnt it be strange that England´s national anthem to be named JERUSALEM?? Maybe if it was named London...

  • @Dendiol

Same here, there isn't one day go by I don't think of England's history and shed a tear.

  • So proud to be English. This song gives me goosebumps
