Hey, just listenin to this song again while I'm up late and pissed. About to go to a really late bar, kinda like a dive bar and I'm feelin a bit like an Irish Charles Bukowski. I was starvin earlier today and I was saying to myself as I was looking for a shithole bar to eat, ' I'm new round here and I got a pit in my gut' before getting a mcdonalds. bowery is one of the great, inimitable elegies of our time, and this is a powerful performance, better in some respects than the recorded version. i especially love the violin. thanks so much for posting! this is exactly why i appreciate youtube so much

Really love to listen to this song when I'm walking about. I'm Irish and it reminds me of our taditional songs cos they're always sad but lovely at the same time. I really feel this song, you can imagine his grandad might have appeared in a William Borroughs book at some point
