Shahidji plays a leisurely and expressive alap here. (He is a master of this.) Some of his meends are truly exquisite, and technically dazzling! Many performers are content to play a brief aochar before going right on to the gat, instead he _draws_ us into the raag by slow, sensuous degrees. I also find his facial expressions rather distracting sometimes, but I think he's just looking at us in order to convey, "I am offering this to you - do you feel what I am trying to express?" I do. Vah! vah!
