Maritess Bacolod, a PWD and a member of Gabriela-Corazon de Jesus chapter revealed how the local government used extreme force to implement the demolition, using warning shots, bulldozer, etc. It was only after they were fired with teargas that the defense of the residents broke down. Amado, a senior citizen who is sick and unable to walk on his own, suffered from teargas. Arnold Repique, President of the Sandigang Maralitang Nagkakaisa, revealed how before the violent demolition, the residents have tried to reach out to the local government and present to them housing options which they could work on, to no avail.

Two minors, not included in this video, revealed how one was beaten by police and the other shot with air gun.

They presented the shells of bullets fired by the police that were recovered from the demolition scene. They will call for an investigation on the matter in the House of Representatives. They also said they are one with the residents in calling for in-city relocation, the release of prisoners summariliy arrested and justice for all the victims of the demolition. Roy Velez of Bayan-NCR shared how the violence all started when the local government declared to demolish the homes of the people and how the militant groups will always unite with the people to fight for their rights and interests.

  • ibang klaseng press con ito, nasa kalsada lang. unlike all other held in posh hotels or lavish restaurants. truly, people's culture. culture of the masses.

  • Only a part of this was shown in the TV news. lalong hindi nila pinakita yung disgusto ng mga tao sa mainstream media na sine-sensationalize ang mga balita, dina-downplay ang paglaban ng mga tao para lumikha ng 'sense of normalcy' o sine-censor ang mga bagay laban sa mga mayayaman at nasa kapangyarihan.
