Sure, lots to mock, But also lots to admire, The concepts of an elite existing but refusing to evolve, existing at the expense of the many, of immortality becoming a curse, of the sexual attraction of the barbarian, who then introduces the seed of change, change which can bring death and destruction but also more equality and social evolution. The more time passes and we don't see anything as creative as Zardoz, the more we can enjoy and learn the lessons of the 70s.

@2:30 - 2:36 - it used to be taken for granted - about 60 or 70 years ago - that the existence of life anywhere but earth was an absurd idea. That was before certain developments in astronomy were technically possible - but apart from them, the idea that only earth was inhabited was not as crazily out of the question as people now might think. Ther's not exactly much proof of life on other planets now. The really crazy idea in the film is that the entire universe could have been searched.
