After reading about the program in US News producers from CBS 60 Minutes came to observe IMPACT's Coalition Institute and Training Initiative and decided "urban debate" was a story that needed to be told.
Will introduced the producers to the heads of the urban debate programs in Atlanta, Newark and Baltimore and allies elsewhere. The producers scoured places where the program had been replicated and settled on Walbrook HS in Baltimore as the team that encapsulated what debate can do and has done for young people.
