  • This is a great vision. Hawaii could be America's demonstration project for sustainability, and it would draw tourism. Obviously, the natural beauty of the islands must be maintained, and I can only imagine the NIMBY response for offshore windmills, but if they were far enough offshore...

  • I agree, we got to get the political will behind the vision, not so easy but we are trying.

  • This is just paper, Think about the same process, but for plastic now.

  • Hmm, there should be more research into if recycling's (paper and plastic) effects are on the environment. Is there energy/waste used/emitted in: transportation (home>recycling facility>re-processing plant>etc.), manpower, the re-processing in already processed paper (fumes from the water and chemicals added in re-pulping), de-inking (causing a waste by-product, where would this waste would end up)? TAX-PAYER'S cost of all this? Consider different sources, not just nationally but globally.

  • this is really interesting
