  • It also doesn't say that the government should build roads or freeways in the Constitution, but I bet you use them. To stand there and be PROUD of being uninsured is just plain sad. First of all this girl is MY liability right now, if she goes to the emergency room I AM PAYING for her. Secondly she doesn't understand that if she gets hit by a car, or trips and breaks an arm, she would be ruined financially right now. And comes from a poli-sci major? ridiculous.

  • Read the ninth ("The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people") and tenth ("The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people") amendments to the Constitution. Whatever is not outlined in the Constitution belongs to the states.

  • When there is to be a healthcare reform bill to be written and passed, it should be by the states, not the federal government.

    And no, she is not your responsibility, she, as an adult is responsible for herself.

  • besides, the roads argument is irrelevant. what are we supposed to do then? drive on the sidewalks or ran through houses?

  • @beefliver If u think Emergency care is cheaper than preventive med or primary care, than u don't know how the system works. BTW everytime someone uninsured goes to the ER (even before HCR) you (&your kids) are paying for it

  • @beefliver wow 9 months later a response. of course the constitution gives right sto build roads (that was the point of my comment).equally it also lets the gov tax you for not having health care. that's why HCR is legal and will stand. teabaggers who make that lame argument don't understand the constitution

    You'd rather pay for millions of uninsured for the rest of your life and your children's lives and theirs than pay for those much fewer EMERGENCIES???? Where did you learn economics?

  • Not sure, but I honestly do not think Henry answered her comment. The bottom line is, our freedoms have officially been taken away from us. The federal government obviously thinks it knows what is best for us regardless of how we choose to freely think about things.

  • Cuellar is an asswipe like all of them.

  • We will not have the same plan that Congress has now. Ask your rep if he will opt out of the plan for the public option. You will not get a direct answer like Cuellar did not give to the ? that started this discussion.

    I would like to see every citizen insured, but we have bigger problems. The USA cannot afford such a big program. Medicare & Medicaid are going broke. They can't even administer Clunkers correctly and I don't want to imagine what they would do with public healthcare.

  • we will alway have the freedom to disagree, that inalienable right has nothing to do with coming up with a commen sense solution to lowering Health care costs= more people insured.

  • Also "lordhillman" congress didn't exempt themselves, they already have a health plan through AFCSME. AFCSME is a big supporter of public option. If I had the chance to buy into gov. plan for congress I would happily oblige. Just like I would happily buy medicare insurance. And yes, I know about unisured who can pay,-I AM ONE. And let me tell you, you can't pay for broken bones or even worse APPENDICITIS out of pocket. Don't believe me? ask your local doctor or hospital how much: 15000$ and up.
