US District Judge Jorge Solis ruled in the case of Manuel Benavides that the City of Irving violated the voting rights of Latinos in that city and prohibited the city from holding elections in the manner which they are currently held. He ordered Single Member Districts and ordered the City to pay court costs and legal fees, The City of Irving spent $327,000 in fees to their attorneys, must pay over a million dollars to Plaintiffs attorneys and now wants to appeal the decison, as sore losers.
