TC Ului crossed the Central Qld Coast in the early hours of Sunday morning on the 21st March 2010 as a strong Cat 3 with recorded wind gusts to 202km/hr. This was the first cyclone in 40 years to cross the Central Qld Coast
My husband was due to fly home that afternoon(back to Brisbane),he was so scared of flying, that he totally wiped himself out!!needless to say the planes were not going anywhere...so he was so drunk, that he slept through his very first cyclone!!most amusing :) On a more serious note, thank god there was no serious injury.
Great Video. I live at St Helen's. There was no damage to the house which was good, although it was shaking quite a bit as it is a high set house. A low set brick home is defiantly the way to go in a Category 3 cyclone. There were many trees over the road, but thanks to all the people with tractors who spent their time in helping clear the debris people were able to use the road more sufficiently.
We went for a drive around town on sunday, we live in Andergrove and were very lucky, had trees and branches that had fallen in yard and street, no damage to house.
Was an experience to see what a cat 3 cyclone would do, but lucky it wasnt worse hey, and we are all ok.
Hope all the ppl with no power still, get it back on soon.
Hi mate, nice video. You're a crazier guy than me - I flew up to Mackay just to experience this cyclone, but no way would I have been out at the airport at 1.30! We had trees falling on our house at that time, bad time to be outside for sure.
