A lot of people don't think of it the right way. She was not stating that John McCain is the equivalent of Hitler. It's more abstract. It's like she's saying Republican policies create the kind of fascism Hitler had happen, and it does, expect in a more indirect way. Just because McCain himself is not ordering the death of people doesn't mean policies he would exact wouldn't cause the destruction she portrayed.
