We are going back for our 10th trip to Hanalei next July and I so look forward to this drive from Lihue to Hanalei. My first time on the island was in 1972. It was so much different then but still so much the same now (the Kuhio Hiway was just being built and "most" of the old road was about 1 1/2 lanes and all the bridges were one lane bridges. The only stop light on the island was in Hanama 'ulu. Wake up Cafe for breakfast, Bubba's for a burger and grilling fresh fish from the Dolphin!

great video!! I also vacationed there. I was closer to the airport. i got nervous when I started to cross the bridges that had only 1 lane. or going over a bridge with a stream under you.

Went to Kauai, for the first time, during Christmas of 2009. Stayed in Princeville and spent most of my time in Hanalei Town. This entire drive is one the best in the U.S!!! Thanks for the sharing and bringing back alot of good memories (man, I could use a Bubba's burger right now!)
