Hello, I had not heard this quote before. I am not sure that Burke and his chosen family would accept it as their religion but they certainly would not hesitate to mete it out.

I've read all but one or two of Vachss books. I'm reading Mask Market right now and I believe that is a quote from an early chapter.

Its interesting that you chose many quotes describing Burke's opinions of the world around him - Vachss seems to get an unusually large amount of criticism here in the US for those types of passages in particular.
Its good to see that not everyone feels that way!

Hello,
Thank you. If you have not already guessed, part of the reason that I enjoy reading Vachss's work is that his views, on a lot of things, coincide with mine. It is probably not too much of a stretch to suggest that they
informed some.
I admire Vachss courage and forthrightness to state these opionions, over many years, through many novels, in the face of such criticism.
