http://chrismazz.com/stretching - If you have low back pain after sitting long at work, in a car, in a plane, in a lounge chair (hopefully on a beach) or if you have been doing extra cardio on a bike (spinning) or treadmill, try these hip flexor stretches. I get low back pain after only 45- 60 minutes of sitting especially during a car or plane ride and these have helped so much. Try them and see how they can help you!
P.S.
After these hip flexors get tight not only can your lower back hurt, but their tightness neurologically robs the glutes creating a greater muscle imbalance (weak butt and over tight quads) and and may contribute to even more problems with body mechanics. This leads to improper stress, wear and pain in knees, hips, ankles, feet, back and more!

  • Thank you so much! My lower back and hip flexors kill me after sitting for a long time. Especially after long drives. Been suffering from lower back pain and extreme tightness for years. I've always had trouble stretching these and it didn't help with a past lower lumbar injury. These stretches have helped to bring a lot of relief!!!

  • @HCL808 -Glad to get you relief!

  • very helpful!

  • @thegoodridesnow

    Great to hear it helped.

  • good video, ive always done the front-back motion but never the other two. Just tried all three, and feel instantly better.

  • @gng20 - Yeah.. the other two motions (planes of motion) are key to help stretch the other muscle fibers that remain tight even after you stretch front to back. Thanks for your positive feedback and I hope it can help more people out there like us.

  • i always listen to people who are jacked like you. thanks man you at least know what your doing unlike these other twigs on youtube.

  • wow, i have 7 slipped disks, 2 herniated, and an extra vertabray and have horrable lower back pain and i'm not aloud to take pain meds. your video just helped he so much, i stopped crying from the pain and can now sit up and draw witch is my favorit thing to do. most of the time i have to just lay down but when i did this, i felt like 50 pops up and down my spine and now i feel 100% better. this is something i will do now every day. thankx so much for the help!

  • This may work for general "day to day" enhanced flexibility however, preparing clients or athletes for even the most moderate exercise, even an "active-rest" phase or especially a leg workout, requires FAR more direct hip flexor isolation than this...After these basic movements I have everyone from 80 yr old women to national level bodybuilders gradually work into a forward lunge supported by a bench, toe hooked upon the end, at their own pace, at ANY age people can quadruple their flexibility

  • @keita4life - reverse your back foot, so it lies upside down. this coupled with pillow/mat under your knee should reduce knee pain.

  • is it normal to have upper hip pain during and after deep squats ??

  • If people with tight hip flexor are using this right, the back problem can get better after one proper stretching. You can also get someone to massage your hip flexor hard and leg hard, or you can do it yourself along with the stretching. People with this problem may also be to weak in the hamstring compared to other muscles in the foot and need to strengthen this. An exercise for this is nordic hamstrings(just youtube it) Thank you for the video and lots of valuable information

  • @keita4life You can use a pillow or something soft under your knee if that was what you meant! Thanks for the video :)

  • In this day and age where we expect medicine and doctors to cure everything, it's nice to have a natural approach to a problem.

    Thank you sir

  • awesome vid, love the 3 plane variation and I finally understand what's going on, thanks !

to strengthen weak muscles (rather than relieve tight ones) I've found lunging the back foot farther back (so the leg is straight) helps create even more pressure - what's your take on that variation ?

  • Thank you soooo much! I have been in pain for MONTHS with my hips, and i run in the marine corps, you are an angel - thank you!
