brent smith is a rock genius. one thing though. the title should be brent smith feat. halestorm. especially considering that brent smith WROTE IT!! even in its the entire halestorm band with just brent smith. the title should start with his name. i actually had someone the other day swear to me that halestorm wrote this song.... NOOOO! i was listening to this religiously before lizzy hale even started menstrating.

@machoboy99 ok so i watched a Myles Kennedy video "Hallelujah" or whatever cover, hard song to sing. He failed so hair, he struggled to hit the "high" notes that weren't that high. Acoustic, so no mixing, i see how maybe with a LOT of studio help he could be good, but he is FAR from great.

@2111powers not sure what you saw but i have watched it a dozen times... PLUS zakk signs and he may have sung the wrong thing. I'll break it out and watch it again. Slash is who? a has been from the 90s... and Zep will work with anyone now, those guys are just money hungry.

I need to look up kennedy again, because when i did he sounded like every other average singer out there.

@Melanieshaman Nahh, Hes lip syncing, in a live breaking inside video, Brent "sings" the wrong lyric, but the song says something different. Myles may not sound exactly on par with the album, but whats the point if they sound EXACTLY the same, its just not a "live" experience. Kennedy is touring and making an album with Slash, and has done work with former Zeppelin members(Page,etc). Somethings working for him.

@machoboy99 Ya Brent is THAT good. There are singers who sound exactly like the album, ever heard of Bruce Dickensen? Rob Halford? Ronnie James Dio? Jon Oliva? they ALL do. It's a matter of opinion about Kennedy, i didn't even know who he was til someone brought him up here, he's ok at best.

@Melanieshaman Believe me tons of people are feeling it(Myles Kennedy). I saw shinedown a few times and during breaking inside it sounded exactly like the album, and most people can't sing exactly like the album. Another example is the song " I dare you" on the new dvd in washington state. Its the exact same as the cd. same thing as diamond eyes. I have no proof, that would be impossible to achieve b/c i do not know the band personally. I can't be 100 % sure but it is sounds pretty obvious.

@machoboy99 as you said, it's opinion. I think it's generational as well. you can have all the range in the world, but if the listener can't "feel" it, it's pointless. As for the lip syncing thing.... gimme proof, i have seen him live and he doesn't use lip syncing or a back track.

Without "much" studio help is still studio help.

@Melanieshaman Kennedy is a better singer than Brent IMO, because he can hit all the notes. I would rather have the singer be able to hit all his notes without a lot of soul than a soulful singer who cant hit all his notes. Brent used to be able to but i think the constant touring has hurt his voice. Its still good, but not what it was. Myles can hit all his notes without as much studio help and he can hit them live. Brent Smith has been linked to lip syncing or using a background track.
