from Brian Brushwood's lecture, Scams, Sasquatch and the Supernatural.

Can you trust your own memory? Should you believe people when they say they've seen amazing things? Is it possible that EVERYONE's memories just aren't reliable?

  • I think you missed the point: study after scientific study has clearly shown that regardless of the event (big or small), humans are prone to badly misremembering important details. I didn't make of this up (I'm just an idiot who eats fire for a living). I'm just reporting on the fine work of memory experts such as Elizabeth Loftus.

Odds are that many of the details you remember about where you were when JFK was assassinated are actually incorrect. At least that what the research shows.

  • Yes, and 99.6% of people mis-remembered important details of the plane crash... Did you even watch the video?

  • It's important to keep in mind that what the demonstrator here is illustrating isn't a "bad" thing, if memory didn't work "forwards" that is, in anticipation of outcomes to events there would be absolutely no use for it! This is what separates us from computers---complex associations, creative, maliable, dynamic memory! Although I understand that nobody wants to be "tricked" or think of themselves as "liars", but you ARE, you are inescapably human...and it's a beautiful, amazing thing.

  • This is absolutely poetic. couldn't agree with you more.

  • this guy is a Twat!!!

  • @merged Studies were made (not sure if I'm able to find a ref tho) where people were wearing eyemovement tracking devices supposedly for some tests on eye sight or smthng, but in their break there was a staged hold-up. Bystanders were asked to identify the people responsible and most of them picked the wrong guy although they were sure they were right. One person even swore she didn't see it, although it happened right before her eyes. Regardin JFK, how do they know they remem correctly?

  • @merged If you remember where you were when JFK was shot, you're waaaay to friggin old to be on youtube.

  • you are a genius !

And its really cool to watch all of your videos like this one.

  • that girl who got the words right obviously cheated I mean she put them in order for fucks sake
