Buildings Have Eyes is a song by the Electric Light Orchestra that was going to be released on the double album 'Secret Messages'. But when the album was released as a single LP, a number of good songs were taken off, but this song was released as the b-side of 'Secret Messages'.

  • I like this song, the building has eyes.,what alvin this is on?

  • @MrWillette57 It was meant to feature on the 'Secret Messages' double LP, but the album was released as a single LP instead, and this track was removed and ended up as a b-side. It's also on the 1990 compilation 'Afterglow'.

  • Do you know where I could get a copy of this, like an mp3 or something. ELO is one of my favorite bands, and I'm always looking for stuff like this.

  • I'm not sure where this song is available as a download (it probably is available somewhere), but I definately know that it has been released on cd. The cd is part of a brilliant box set called 'Afterglow' (which also contains most of the Secret Messages outtakes), but it is quite rare and out of print, and you can only get 'Afterglow' through websites like Ebay or Amazon or something.

  • I've never liked any of ELO's albums post-Time, but Secret Messages is starting to grow on me. As with many bonus ELO tracks, this track is oddly brilliant and seems more inspired than many of the regularly released songs.

  • Secret Messages is truely an underrated albumn. So many songs I love on this thing! it makes me want to rescind all my statements about the 3-man ELO days sucking. :P

  • nice

  • @luvgay Yes, you are right the part between 1:51 - 1:58 and this was recored in 1983 a year before I want a new drug or ghostbuster song come out .......

  • Did anyone catch the ghost buster part at 1:51 to 1:58 and that song was from 1984 one year after this song was recored.....

  • Kinda reminds me of "knocking nails into my house" by the idle race.

Bit more of a whimsical production too like the idle race.

Cheers for putting up these raritys =)

  • @AntiguaDreams Whoever it was at CBS/Jet Records that made the decision for 'Secret Messages' to be released as a single album (instead of the double album like Jeff wanted) should've been given their cards.

  • @VUPdingCLICK It didn't really become 'The Jeff Lynne Show', the times were changing and Jeff (along with Bev, Rick, Kelly and the others) had to change with the times(both physically and musically). In other words, what may have worked in 1977 may not have worked in 1981. Jeff was using synths as far back as 'Face The Music'.

  • I like electric light orchestra,i especialy like the vialins, if i spelled it righjt.
