This is a 360° test render for the character Medic that is being used for my HNC 3D Animation Game Trailer project.
The brief is to create a game concept, using 5 key words to help inspire us, then create the character and environment models required for a suitable trailer to showcase it all.
My game is titles MARS and here is a basic summary of the concept;
MARS is a tactical, top down, grid based, RPG, action game.
Up to four players can play co-operatively throughout the campaign which focuses on a war between the human race who are fighting for survival and the Martians who aim to exterminate them.
The war takes place on Mars which was originally inhabited by Martians millions of year ago.
The Martians used their advanced technology to hibernate beneath the planets' surface to survive a solar flare that wiped Mars clean.... nearly.
The human race evolved eventually and now after their millions of years of slumber the Martians have awoken to claim their planet back. And they don't want to share.
This is currently an early(ish) render of the unfinished main character, more texture work needs to be done to him before I am happy, however I have come to realise texturing is not one of my strong points.
Thanks to the game concept I am able to use a cell-shaded graphic style which enables me to create simple textures that still look nice and fit in with the overall style.
it's lookin' good man! he looks quite.. scared/concerned though xD

@highrapture It's perfect that you instantly think he looks scared/concerned because the character is very solemn for most of the game.
It is also just a default expression for him at the moment, will be doing plenty of morph shapes for facial expressions soon.

@JaxnFury so did you render that as jpegs, then layer it in photoshop?
i think i'll skip that bit.. depending how much rendering time i have
highrapture 1 year ago
@highrapture I actually just AVI'd it this time, then thew it all together in premier. I just played the first two renders (the deault and then ambient occ) seperately then the 3rd (the composite) was the default with the ambient occ layer on top of it and blended down similar to photoshops layer styles.
When i get to my full animation I will probably end up using the 1 jpg per frame option but I will have to see how time cosuming that might be.
