Thanks for the information. It's June 17 and the cicadas have not yet emerged here in South Dennis, Mass. I remember them from the Summer of 1975, was amazed at the cacophony, and look forward to it again this year.

Followed this link from "cicada mania". Nice video of immature nymphs almost ready to emerge. The eyes are not bright red yet and their legs do not seem suitable for climbing trees. Looking forward to the arrival of Brood XIV!
