Sri Lanka-Tamil Tiger War Battles On

Sri Lankan troops have cornered Tamil Tiger rebels in a small part of the jungle and are battling to finish off the separatist rebellion that is now recruiting children as soldiers. 400 people have been evacuated by the Red Cross, but there are still many at risk.

STORY:
The United Nations says arrangements to take in the evacuated people at camps set up in the northern region of the country is a good sign.

This was the third such evacuation from the area over the past week.

Sri Lankas government says 34,000 people who were in the rebel held areas have crossed over, despite the rebels shooting at them.

So far we know that they have food and all so we have arrangements if there is a necessity - three times now we have taken out casualties through ICRC, three boatloads came into Trincomalee, similarly we have plans, we have organized to send food if there is a necessity. So that will be arranged."

Most of the people have moved 10 or 15 times as fighting swept across the north of the island, taking refuge in trenches or bunkers for days or weeks at a time.

The U.N. says the separatist Tamil Tigers have forcibly recruited children to join their army and are shooting and killing people trying to flee the warzone.

This war has been an ongoing devastation to the people of Sri Lanka since 1983 and is now one of Asia's longest-running wars.

Do not use terrorism as the pretext for ethnic destruction of another race. Listen and talk to the Tamil Eelam's representatives and let them live in the north. In return, the SL government can have peace. SL military muscle is not stronger the will of Tamil people to survive. Even US fails to destroy a small group of Al-Qeida. War is the not the answer, diplomacy is the path to take.

In war no one wins, true.. thats why it was tried by all the governments in Sri Lanka tried to come into some agreement. However it is also not a possibility to have a "Hitler" ruling within the small island, which restrict lives of all ethnic groups and their movements within country. Also this has been damaging the image of Sri Lanka so far. There should be a end to this terrorist activities and then a democratic solution where all communities can live in harmony and respect.

We have a choice. We can stop the war and enjoy peace and prosperity. With out seeing who is at fault, look at the root cause of the problem and solve it. Say NO to those who wants the war to go on. In war no one wins. Everyone loose. Last 25, 30 years, we did not learn any dam thing. We are so stupid even the animals may be laughing at us. Burn the differences and cherish the similarities and the country will be once again become the pearl of the Indian ocean.
