Yea! A successful Air Start.
A single G131 with an air start of two G57 motors. A very nice pop as the second motors start. Unfortunately, I angled the launch pad and did not achieve enough altitude for a clean Dual Deploy of the parachutes. Both chutes deployed at the same time, as they should have under the circumstances.

  • Yes, the rocket is over stable, but I also tipped the launch pad away from the spectators so the 6 lb rocket would not land on or over the heads of everyone. The effect was a very low altitude flight, so both parachutes came out at the same time. Next month, Oct 9th, 2010, I am going to launch the same rocket with 3 larger motors and not tip the launch pad.

  • It was quite windy -- was that rocket very overstable or did you do something else to get it to fly that direction?---everything else went into the trees on the other side!
