These guys completely miss the point. No one is trying to completely get rid of cars, the point is to show people that you don't need to spend your life in the car. The point is to show that there is life outside that climate-cruise-audio controlled interior

The patronizing argument that people don't realize how many things get to them by car is more-or-less ignorant is useless. No car days are to get away from a lazy, 'lets jump in the car and drive to a recreation/shopping area' mindset. Sure my latte gets there by truck, and i'm going to get it on foot thank you, wearing a rain coat. Bullies, you are bullies and think your rational. Notice the funding above.

I am a rather left of center person with an advanced degree in public policy and administration and I agree for the most part with this video. The anti car crowd has nothing to do with efficiency or sound public planning. It has everything to do with an ideologically motivated mentality that is more reflective of an upper middle class lifestyle than anything else. If these people were serious about proper planning they would drop the holier than thou rhetoric.

There is no anti-auto discrimination, no one is going to take away the street in front of your house. Car free day isn't about being anti-automobile, it's about being anti-only automobile. Freedom to drive and having freedom from driving.

Carfree day is just a token event, though this CEI video has more to do about fear from its corporate sponsors than any thing else. Not every body can drive, no body should be forced to drive and not every body wants to drive. There's no such thing as a free lunch or a free market.

A car-free lifestyle is a happy and healthy lifestyle. I never want to own a car again! I will make lifestyle choses that prevent me from needing a car for my children sake and for future generations.

Plus how does Car Free day affect you CEI? Why can't we, the public choose? Aren't you free-market. I can choose whatever I want & I choose the subway instead of a Hummer.
