This is a recreation of how Chicko got into the act. They saw him in the audience, Harpo threw him an orange, and he played this song with it. Something like that.

:( Makes me jealous because I can't play the piano!! Grr... But, lovely playing! I admire the talent of the Marx brothers. Chico's piano playing never fails to entertain me.
And about the apple/orange debate, I personally couldn't care less even if it was a peach or a plum, or an oversized brussel sprout. What matters is that he used it to play the piano with.
