The Ubuntu they're using is likely Goobuntu (lol), which is an internal distro based on 10.04. According to NY Times article (2009), almost half of the emplyess used it.

Me thinks too much sugarcoating :D Seriously, you work there - ok, but there are lots of talented engineers who work at other places, it's not like the best are at Google only and the remaining (i.e.worse) part is elsewhere. Please stop disseminanting such myths.
