@fmsaave Because of where I was born and raised, I am not close to Hispanic culture but I have absolutely loved this piece of music since I first heard it more than ten years ago. I came across it while going through some of Dave Grusin's music and because of it, I made a point of looking for the movie and enjoyed that too. Viewed it a good few times. The scenario is typical; big business trying to run rough-shod over the poor. Wish real-life communities would rise up like they did.

I wonder if the number of dislikes was influenced by the movie? Personally I like the music but didn't care for the film.

This beautiful piece is from the film "The Milagro Beanfield War." The movie's music won Grusin an Academy Award for best film score of 1988, but it was two more years before it was released as a recording... and Grusin had to release it himself.

Why are there so many people who dislike this beautiful song? Must not be contemporary jazz lovers. Probably they are the people who listen to Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga. What a shame, their loss....

Thank you for posting this. I think one of Grusin's most beautiful songs! :-)
Thank You to all those who enjoyed this piece...I have to laugh at those who dislike it but to each their own. I love it because I live in New Mexico, raised in the Hispanic culture there and the book and the movie were pretty dead on with the characters, haha, I know these people, they're my kin. I love this piece because it reminds me of my own mother who passed a few years back and I listen to this and remember her face...but thats just me.
