ok here is what happend Israel had a tough blockade on gaza and hamas was trying to break the blockade by sending 4" homeade rockets. So isreal started firing back so then Israel asked for a cease fire and Hamas agreed but israel didnt take the blockade off and the people of gaza desperatley need food, water, oil, medications and electricity so what did hamas benefit from the cease fire? nothing except that they're ppl are dying and israel civilians are living in peace.

As I recall, Hamas kept the ceasefire until Israel broke the ceasefire first by attacking tunnels during the ceasefire. Israel enforced a strict blockade, only allowing small amounts of aid in after being pressured by the U.N. and other countries. Gaza was suffering, people were starving to death, and these tunnels were the only way to get aid in to Gaza. When Israel attacked the tunnels, Hamas retaliated with rocket fire.
