This was one of the first songs i learned to play on the bass when i played rock music. I learned a lot from its bass line especially how a simple chord progression can be made interesting using some more groove :) Sorry for the mistakes i made, but it's half past two in the afternoon and i'm really sleepy :)

Remember, due to the small picture, click on the resize button under the video for sharper quality.

Note: I often get asked whether I played this song a half step down. The answer is yes...let me try to explain without causing too much confusion..at the time of recording I used to play with a band where we all tuned our instruments two semitones down (including my musicman stingray). Since Sweet Child of Mine is played one semitone down, I needed to adjust the song a further semitone down so I won't retune my bass each time. I used a software called audacity to change the pitch of the song. I hope that makes sense.

I really would like to thank you for all these nice comments. You made this video one of the most viewed in Malta. Thanks again!

  • No, wait, I think the mp3 is tuned down to D

  • yes that's right...when i played this song two years ago I used to have my bass tuned down by two semitones because of my band and I didn't want to re-tune it everytime I play my covers, so I re-tuned the mp3's instead..that's the whole story. Nowadays I changed philosophy though..you can check my other covers. Stayed 'tuned' :)
