This is how i got a external RTA analyser mic working via the iPad USB connection kit without needing AC power.
This will also work using a powered USB hub.
I used a Behringer ECM8000 Measurement Mic, CE Mic Port Pro, 4 port non-powered USB hub, Duracell rechargable USB power charger and the Apple USB iPad connection kit.
The RTA program is the Studio Six Digital RTA program (which is now AudioTools)
brilliant!!

Thank you! This answered my Micport Pro question and how to solve the power problem I have with A/V equipment with the iPad. Much appreciated.

Thats pretty sweet. Thats a very handy app for the ipad.
I just purchased the same microphone for use on my PC netbook to run TrueRTA software. The soundcard on the netbook sucked so I picked up the Steinberg Ci1 which is fairly inexpensive and has phantom power.
