  • What an interesting instrument ! Just like the double-keyboards piano's, isn't it ?

  • Except that with the double-keyboard, so far i know, you have only a single string set for 2 keyboards. Thus you share notes. With the piano pedal, you have 2 pianos with a slightly different sound. It is richer. By the way the Borgato piano are absolutely extraordinary. For me, they are the best. And Luigi an Paola are very nice too...

  • I don't know what you call a double-keyboards piano. Can you explain, please ?

  • No, sorry. I only have the rushes of the 90 mn 2002 concert of Jean Guillou on the Doppio Borgato shown in this video at the Olympico Theatre of Visence in Italy

  • Maître Guillo is right, these instruments are exceptionally useful especially to the organists of the baroque period only then is was a harpsichord that had a pedal board attached to it and J.S Bach himself owned one of these instruments which is no wonder why his organ compositions sound so well on these beautiful works of art.

But as he says it gives the musician a greater awareness of sensitivity and touch so these would be perfect for a modern organ student as well.

  • Its a mutant! Half piano, half organ!

  • Very interesting instrument, I would like to have one at home...

  • The site of the New York Times proposes an article about that kind of piano (search july 15, 2007). But I think there was more instruments like that when manufacturers began to create piano-harpsichords, harmonium-pianos, etc.

  • Thanks for the explanation !
