Amtrak #6 continuing up over Donner Pass on 3-23-11 from Emigrant Gap switch 10 on the Union Pacific Roseville Sub to Reno. If you look closely you will see that the top of the snow pack was up to the windows as seen from the upper level of the car I was riding in. That snow was DEEP there!! The video should give you an idea of how deep the snow pack was, after Truckee the snow was less, remainder of the video is along the Truckee River going towards Reno. In my other video, 3 hours after we passed Emigrant Gap there was an avalanche that covered the tracks and trapped a snow removal train. We were the last train over Donner Pass until they brought the SP Rotary snow plows up from Roseville, tracks finally were open again on March 28.
Looks like you started that one around MP 177.5 just before Shed 10. Very interesting for people familiar with that area. You hold through 179 - No Cisco tunnels ! : >( . . then jump it appears to the Hirschdale area, and catch Floriston. Every bit of that footage very interesting to watch in my opinion. Thumbs up !
