On May 28-30, 2009 Acumen Fund hosted its first ever Student Leaders Workshop designed to introduce the next generation of leaders to social entrepreneurship and the concept of patient capital. 20 students from universities all around the USA, including students from India and Singapore, attended the event and left committed to spread the message of Acumen, social entrepreneurship, and patient capital to their campuses and abroad. A highlight of the 3-day workshop included an inspiring talk by author and marketing guru Seth Godin. For more information, visit: http://www.acumenfund.org/get-involved/student-leaders-workshop.html
@coopasan9 wow i forgot i made this comment 2 years ago, and laughed so hard at my comment when i read it today. u forgot to mention having the appropriate channels available, and getting pass all the red tape.
- money
- creativity
- appropriate channels
- red tape.
If u have all four, u can actually solve things like this, but rarely does anyone have all 4, and/or have the willingness to solve those kinds of problems.

@webguy943 And what have you done? It's the negative thinking like that in which nothing worthwhile gets accomplished. Long term, poverty is not solved with a giant check with the name of the third world country. This is about teaching the right people to create self sustaining communities even in the worst possible areas in the world.
