That was weak. I had high hopes for Kasich. I am sadly disappointed. The 2nd amendment is too important to compromise. If we loose that right, we have nothing left to protect all of our other rights. We would be helpless peasants like every other culture that has gone down to tyranny. I disagree with Strickland on nearly everything else, but I may for the first time in my life vote for a Democrat, or at least Libertarian.
He won't accept responsibility! Do you really want a person to be your Governor who refuses to accept responsibility for his actions and refuses to explain his rationale for one of the biggest deprivations of our Constitutional rights ever committed. "I thought it might do good, I was wrong". How could disarming innocent people, and taking away there only means of self protection do good?
Remember, not only did he vote for the Clinton Gun Ban, which banned much more than just assault weapons, he actively recruited over 30 republicans to join him. Without Kasich there would have been no BAN, he provided the support needed to pass it.
He refused to answer the key 2nd Amendment question as it relates to an individual right, versus State right. When asked flat out he said "its a constitutional right", that's obvious, the U.S. Supreme Court in Heller just ruled it is an individual right, the next big ruling is does the 14th Amendment apply the Heller decision to the States. He won't take a STANCE.
His answers on 2nd Amendment were awful. When asked if he'd apologize for the AWB vote, he didn't. So his real answer: "No aplogies." When asked how he'd improve gun aws, he vaguely said, "I'm with you." Real answer: "I'm too cowardly to commit to anything yet or really don't care about the issue enough to make a plan."
I guess I will be voting Libertarian or Strickland in 2010. *sigh*
That was a pretty good answer to the 2nd Amendment questions. I would still like a clear statement about his views on concealed carry and whether he would sign bills that increase gun owner rights in Ohio like restaurant carry, etc. It's a good start and obviously he is hearing the voices of the gun rights movement in Ohio!
IS IT TIME? Go to USRevolution2 (dot com) and get the flag of the Second American Revolution. It looks exactly like the Betsy Ross flag, but with a Roman numeral "II" in the center of the 13 stars. They are in all 50 states. Click the "Videos" tab on our website & see the flag spreading from Hawaii to North Carolina. When this flag goes viral 95% of profits will go to patriot candidates, and 5% will go to me so I can retire before I die. They are $19.95 + postage & handling.

He didn't apologize for the AWB, that has to happen before he even gets a consideration for my vote. He dodged the questions.
