Matt's grandfather Tom Smith Sr. plays trombone on a 1970s show with Hal Linden (clarinet), and the legendary Murphy Campo Jazz Saints. The performance took place at Crazy Shirley's on Bourbon Street, New Orleans.

  • Fantastic upload. I can just imagine Capt. Miller playing at a jazz club to relax after the grave-yard shift but not telling any of his squad about his hobby.

  • Matt, Wow! What a treat to see Mr. Smith play professionally back when he was younger. I was a student of Mr. Smith's for 5 years through high school. It was a pleasure playing for Mr. Smith during those years. I met your Dad as well in one jazz session; he blew our socks off with that big sound of his. Thank you so much for posting the video, it brought back some great memories.

  • Great footage, Matt. It's fascinating to see how successful your family was with their musical careers.
