The first video here is performed by Roger Hodgson with Orchestra 2004 and the second video is Supertramp with an Orchestra performing on their 2002 World Tour playing Roger's song without him. Which do you prefer? Roger playing his songs OR Supertramp playing Roger's songs - You choose.

Though Supertramp doesn't tour anymore, Roger is currently touring worldwide, selling out shows all over the globe and receiving fantastic reviews from media and fans alike. He is performing both public and private concerts in a variety of formats - solo, with backing band, and with symphony orchestra.

Here are some thoughts that have been shared.

"Going through the YouTube videos, I see it was Roger that wrote my favorites. The band just isn't the same without him. No point in listening to Supertramp without Roger. I'd rather just listen to Roger."

"Roger grabs ahold of the audience the moment he walks on stage and doesn't let go. Wow! I just love this man and everything about him. What you see is what you get. Gentle, kind, loving, giving, spiritual, talented, genius. He is better today than Supertramp ever was. I've been very blessed to see Roger in concert several times and every one of them has been amazing. They laugh, cry, sing, dance and beg for more. (Myself included). Can't wait to see him again."

Many people have asked who wrote and composed Supertramp's songs. When people hear Roger's voice, "one of the most recognizable voices in rock history," many don't realize the songwriter and composer of the songs we love is Roger Hodgson.

Roger would make a demo of his song and bring it to the band for them to learn their parts. So the band Supertramp never wrote and composed together, there were only 2 songwriters for the band. The songs Roger sings lead vocals on are the ones he composed the music and lyrics for, and the songs Rick sings lead vocals on are the ones that he wrote.

When Roger Hodgson left Supertramp in 1983, he and Rick agreed that the band would not play Roger's songs. Their agreement was for Supertramp to become a vehicle for Rick's music and Roger would go forward with his future secured by his songs and his voice. This was not just a gentleman's agreement; the publishing company and contract legally recognize which songs each songwriter actually wrote. Roger has contractual approval rights over the use of his songs and Rick for his.

I feel Roger sings from his heart and soul and that touches me when I hear him sing. He has a way of sharing his music that I find profound and touching. I love to hear songs performed by the original artist and there's no comparison for me when I hear the band Supertramp it just doesn't sound like the real deal. Many have commented you prefer hearing Roger sing his own songs so I would like to hear others thoughts on this. Please post comments on my channel and/or the videos. Love to hear from everyone.
