This is a homemade soil screener for sifting dirt, topsoil, compost, rocks etc.
A 5HP Honda motor drives a belt to a pulley with an off-balance weighted flywheel causing the vibration.
The sticks, rocks, clumps and larger debris exits at the end of the screen. The finer sifted material drops through the screen and falls underneath due to the vibrating/sifting action.

  • Hello folks, I'll try to put together an inspection video, showing the moving parts. Please be patient. I am going to replace the 15 year old motor with a new one, and when it's apart, that will be a good time to get video of the workings. Thanks again for the positive comments, truly appreciate the interest and kind words.

  • The screen bed is suspended on springs in the front, and sitting on coil springs in the back. An off -balance weight is being spun on a shaft to create the vibration.

  • That...is...AWESOME! I now know what my winter project is going to be!

  • very easy to find out how it's build, just stop the mose ion the shaft veside the engine and you will see how it work

  • Great looking screener, definitely the best looking on Youtube. Was wondering if you could post a video of the off balanced weight and shaft. Building one as a winter project with my brother and I am looking for good ideas on the eccentric weight so as not to tear the unit apart. Yours runs so smooth. Impressive.

  • can I get some pictures of the flywheel and counterweight assembly you built. I am building a smaller screener for my worm castings. I also will be placeing the screener on springs and spinning a counter weight. Just can't decide on a good design.

  • I am building one like this and wondered if you could explain your design for the vibration? I have built vibratory machines before but wondered how you did it. is your screen on springs? it is hard to see in the pic. thanks!

  • can u call me im building a screener and would like to no how u made the shaft 301-370-6404

  • Hey, thanks for posting this video. I was able to use it in my presentation about soil.
