This is a short look at just three of the many primate species that live in Africa. Baboons (along with Mandrills) are the largest members of the monkey family. The Olive Baboon featured here, has a large range spread across central Africa. New reports show they at times will cross breed with other baboon species. Also on this video are curious Vervet Monkeys, and the animal most closely related to us, the Chimpanzee.
PLEASE REMEMBER- PRIMATES ARE NOT PETS!
To help all of Africas old world monkeys check out groups like African Wildlife Foundation, Conservation International and Wildlife Direct.

I realize some of you may have found this video due to the recent Chimp attack in Connecticut, so please read about some of the Chimp sanctuaries we have here in the US. It is a shame that these places have to exist, but please do read up on them and help if you can.

  • Could you teach me how to make the video look like that? My video is always blurry and I feel like I'm not uploading it right.

  • actually this one came out not so good. But I guess, just make sure there is a lot of light, and i use a basic setting. I have tried the highest quality settings and when shrunken by You Tube's program, they often look worse.

  • hey briczar are all monkeys/ primates meat eaters apart from orangs i cant think of one?i mean like all of them have canines unlike orangs.

  • Most would eat worms/insects etc.. I think gorillas are pure veggies, both other than them and orangs..i think (i am not a primate expert by any means) they all eat meat in one form or another.

  • Thanks for sharing. YouTube videos of people feeding wild animals drive me crazy! There are many good reasons for not feeding wildlife, especially wildlife that is being 'visited'.

  • By looking at you tube videos you can find many people feeding animals (both wild and at zoos) and people getting way too close, and also abuse. It is sad. I hope people will learn it is best for the animals and for us to respect wildlife. As for these monkeys i am sure it is done for the cuteness factor, but getting bitten or having the locals or workers at the lodge have to kill them because they get too close isn't cute.

  • It's strange how primates evolved into an inferior species (humans), instead of becoming more advanced.

  • Love the video (I've worked at two of the sanctuaries you mentioned). Awareness is so important, keep up the good work

  • chimps inc. has proved to be a good home for retired chimpanzees, in Bend, OR

  • that was a good video, did a really good job on the narraration.

  • when I was a kid I hated 3 types of animal:

mosquitoes- I am now indifferent to them.

    Horses- I still hate them.

Monkeys- I like them now, I don't know why I hated them, they are cool.

  • at 0:29 start playing guitar

  • @vasant85 Female baboons throw their infants at predators to get away, male baboons kill the young ones so the famles mate with him. They alway fight and kill each other and anything else they can. Anyone who has worked woth them and monkeys hate them as much as I do, if their honest. Real funny creatures. I have 5 troops and I find them dead all the time, except they eat the babies most the time, and they have plenty of food and water too. Just nasty animals.

  • To counter your first assumption, I am not a male. Secondly, I do not necessarily hate myself, I have only realized that human beings are not the marvelous beings we assert ourselves to be.

  • However, this assertion of yours does not retract my personal feeling that humans are a blight on the Universe, and never should have been created.

  • @Jasumi Humans also insist on creating broad ideologies based on nothing, like you're doing now. Just because every living animal survives in their environments doesn't mean they have a "purpose" or "niche" to fill. Every animal alters its environment to survive, humans just do so much more than the others.

  • among all primates, i found baboons to be the most funniest. them and their antics, hilarious little creatures.
