Power isn't the main difference, it is hardware fragmentation, OS fragmentation, and a poor SDK. There are technical limitations based around supporting so many different configurations on top of an SDK that isn't as good as Apple's or Microsoft's.
When a platform costs more to develop and QA for, and it brings in less profit due to a smaller userbase that buys applications, there is little incentive to develop for it.
iOS is like the new Windows, Android is closer to Linux.

sure, right now games and apps that need a lot of power come to iOS - you're completely right about that.
but that will change eventually, when we reach a plateau in mobile hardware. then most phones will be 'good enough' to run most things.
android is the new windows - because of all the freedom developers have compared to iOS.
most windows PCs today are 'good enough' to run most games decently.
it will be much easier for developers in the long-run to develop for android.
btw. new YT sucks :/

I didn't check my YT inbox until today so this is all a coincidence. Either way, a new game from Blizzard and a straight port of XCom Enemy Unknown were announced for iOS this weekend. No plans for Android ports.
The problem with Android's marketshare is that its mostly low end devices that are all over the place. The iPhone sells 4x as much as the popular GS3, and iOS only runs on high end hardware with lots of paying users.
The app gap is actually widening, which I wasn't expecting.

The android app-ecosystem is excellent and improving exponentially!
don't worry about developers. android already has a 70% market-share.
while it might be true that a lot of existing iOS-developers (who also develop for android) still prefer iOS.....But every new developer who is getting started would be stupid not to focus first and foremost on android.
the iphone is going to go the way of the mac. it's going to become a niche product.
you can still still enjoy your stitched leather though

Its too bad that broader needs aren't being met by developers since it is still the #2 target platform for developers, main one being iOS. I guess its cool that you can customize your home screen though
