Just in time for March 22nd, the Second Annual observance of "International Talk Like William Shatner Day", (a holiday I more or less started last year), comes a second Talk Like Shatner video, this time with a surprise special guest star! And by pure coincidence, or some might say, Providence, no less!
I walked in, as I do most Wednesdays, to the Building One conference Room at 20th Century Fox, to "table read" this week's script for Futurama, a show I have the tremendous great fortune to be a series regular on, when to my surprise, who's sitting there as an invited guest, but none other than the great Kevin Pollak, the man I consider to be the premier Shatner impressionist in the world! (I place myself 3rd or 4th). Well, after I, along with the rest of our incredible cast, read this week's hilarious script aloud for the invited guests, and the back-patting, and "nice jobs" were traded all around, Kevin Pollak and I stepped outside on the Fox lot for a friendly little impromptu "Shat Off". Good thing it wasn't "International Talk Like Peter Falk Day".
This Monday, March 22, 2010, will mark William Shatner's 79th birthday, and, in tribute, we should all walk around doing his voice all day long! And when I say, at the end of the vid, "...wait'll you see what we do for the 80th", I of course mean Shatner's 80th, next year! It'llbe... a big... surprise! Evento..MEEEEEE...!

P.S. - Please excuse the small jump cut near the end, For some reason, there was about 2 seconds of pixelation, which I removed. Luckily, no dialog was interrupted.

  • The "fat guy" is Maurice LaMarche, one of the most insanely talented voice actors in the world, and a super nice guy. If you've ever met him at ComicCon, you know what I mean. You never see him, but you hear him all day. He's the Brain on Pinky & The Brain. On Futurama, he's Kif (my fave character), Morbo, Hedonismbot and to many more to mention.

As for him being "not funny", Theo, if you look him up on IMDB, you'll see he's been nominated for 2 Emmies. How many have been you been nominated for?

  • I think Maurice LaMarche did a better impression of Shatner than Kevin Pollak.
