@chopper4552001 Its at the back of the jack , most Iv'e seen or worked on are electric ,not that you can't use a gas engine on them ,it does take some extra doing, one thing for sure you need to make sure the weight guards are in place after serviceing the well , pulling rods & tubing, people have been known to wander into the path of the cranks/weights due to there odd placement, geting the horses head off can be a real pain esp geting the saftey bolt out of the bottom of the beam LOL
if u guys wanna see a real strange lookin pumping unit then look up a rotoflex. those things are a pain in the ass to build. u have to throw each weight in by hand and theres hundreds of them.
Nice shot of the pumping at work. I see these beauties in my dreams at night, I've delt with Lufkins, Churchills & Pumpjacks, but that Mark Unit is the best looking & working GRASSHOPPER I have ever seen in my past 25yrs of being oilfield trash. When I started back in 1983 oil was 6$bbl now it's over 100$bbl. Gone from making 6$hr floor hand up to 23$hr now land rig with Neighbors as Rig Opr.
Now please don't go around calling someone stupid. If you ever watched Forest Gump then you would know what comes next. Now I have been working in the oil field on an workover (LAND RIG) now for the past 25 years & everybody I have worked with has always called it a grasshopper unit. Now read this everybody. some call it poopoo, poop, turd, crap, droppings I call it Shit. I bet you would be the first hand to call for a skyhook.
