@helen4521 yeah I agree. All bikers should be thrilled with fabulous publicity, and all these programmes give exactly that. And regardless of whether you have a film crew behind you, you still have to ride your bike!

This trip is from the golden age:

- No GPS

- No Personal emergency locators

- No Cellphones

- No ready make adventure bikes or kits

These guys are motorbike GODS and total newbies at the same time. :) I'm just reading their book, what a ride, video tells only few of the events they had.

Austin this Gerald that, Charley this Ewan that. At the end of the day I've watched these blokes ride around the world dozens of times and love watching all of it. Does it matter that Charley and Ewan had a proper film crew? in my opinion it doesn't, it just makes it possible for me to watch on telly and be inspired by it. I have travelled on bikes to lots of countries but not around the world and the sum total of my videos is a few burnouts on the lawn. google melvarnio's channel.

fancytyme I enjoyed LWR but when they stated "it has never been done before" they were there to be shoot at. I work in the oil business and my guys gort petrol, much worse than that, in their eyes and it didn't warrant the drama it did with Mc Gregor. Also being famous makes your passage an awful lot easier than it is for a bunch of unknowns. You don't really think that anything nasty could have happened to Ewan Mc Gregor are you? Btw Kazakh roads ar nothing like they portrayed.

fanctyme are you related to Charley or Ewan. Listen my friend I am a Russian speaker and have lived and worked in the regions they traveled through for 20 years. When the Enduro boys did it the road system was undeveloped in places like Kazakhstan and a lot of the other places. That was simply not the case when LWR was filmed. The scenesThis constant reference to "Mafiosi" was also misleading because just about anybody who is on the fringes of crime in that part of the world gets that title.
