Doug Wilkes can be seen here fitting wire frets to a complex custom neck inlay design on a custom 'Rex Bogue Double Rainbow' twin neck commission.

All of the fret work is done by hand, simply with the use of a hammer.

  • So, who is commissioning the guitar?

  • @walterkolosky

Hi there, the guitar was commissioned by a chap called David Fahey. It has been finished a few months ago now, and you can see more here.

  • @walterkolosky Sorry, I posted your reply above. :-)

  • @walterkolosky Take a look at the next commission from David Fahey, it a 24 string lyre harp guitar. There is also a video on the site that shows the initial work being done on this lyre guitar.

  • @carlosmoreton Yea, i am fully aware of the work that goes into these guitars, at the moment im building a tele style guitar. ive spent almost two weeks getting the finish perfect on my neck.

  • @garageXguitarXworks

Hi there, the price for the twin neck was £6,000. If you saw the work with your own eyes you would see just what value that is. Go to wilkesguitars.co.uk and look in players, then David Fahey for more info on the guitar. Also, look at the video page on the wilkesguitars.co.uk web site for more video of the twin neck being built.

  • @carlosmoreton could you give a qoute on the rough cost on that guitar?

    including labour....

  • Boże, gołym młotkiem po progach... :/

  • Hi there,

The guitar is being commissioned by a chap called David Fahey. David had seent the Double Rainbow being played years ago and as he always fancied a twin neck so decided to get Doug to make one in a complimentary style to the Double Rainbow. The next commission David is giving Doug is one for a Harp Guitar.
