7/9/10 - First Cross-Country Lesson/Flatwork

I've been riding for about a year and a half in this video... Well, I had my first XC lesson, and I didn't fall off. :D I rode Prince again this time rather than Tally because Prince is more of a beginner horse and this was something I'd never done before, so... I just went over a couple very small fences at a trot just to get the hang of being on unlevel ground and everything, so it's probably not very exciting. Towards the end of the video I do some canter work, and I finally figured out that if I keep my heels really far down, I won't bounce about a foot out of the saddle. :D I'd always known I should be doing that, but I always would tense up in the canter and forget to keep my heels as far down as possible (thought they were down some). I'm not sure how often I'm going to be doing XC just because my lessons change up a good bit each time, so bear with me. :) Before this lesson I'd only had one lesson throughout the period of six weeks, so I know I didn't do too well, and before this lesson I hadn't jumped for at least two months, though I'm leaning towards three. Hopefully I can get back to having a lesson each week soon, it really is hard to get back into the swing of things when you can't ride for at least three weeks. :P
