  • This was taped at Keith Little's CD release party at the Station Inn in Nashville. Some of these players participated in the CD, especially Mike Compton and Rob Gateley. You can get more info on the CD from keith(at)keithlittle(dot)com

  • One of my favorites from Monroe...Mike is absolute perfection on this!! Fantastic!!

  • @shelibeane We had a good time taping this. Sound is right off the board (DAT) and married to the video. Took some work, but it was sure worth it.

  • Here we go mandolin heads, played the way it should be played by the master himself MIKE COMPTON my favorite mandolin man. I swear some play sort of like Monroe did in a simple way, but Mike plays the way Monroe was thinking and feeling instead, always making me proud. His approach, taste, attitude and tone really come through here as always! GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This guys had it that knight .wow mike is a great mandolin player .a must see .thanks for the post.

  • Can anybody tell me what Band and album this is from? A freind burned me some of the songs from it and he could not identify afterward who it was. I told him i knew from ear that it was Mike Compton on Mando, but didnt know the band. This is my favorite performance of this tune. i love the banjo break on this too very creative. Are these guys still playing together at all? Some of the other material from the same guys is just stellar. any info? much apprecciated.

  • As many different times as I heard Bill do this, I never imagined that someone would take it upon themselves to learn Monroes style so well - down to many of the nuances. And David's break is so creative. Thank you for capturing this so well. For the ages...feel the energy.

  • Mike sure learned his Bill Monroe lessons well... Sure is a lot of Bill's sound in Mike's playing!!! Great video and great tune!!!!

  • @mandodoc When I saw Monroe, which was frequently, I never failed to ask him to play this tune...and he never failed to play it for me...this is an especially wonderful video for not only the memories it evokes, but because Mike is such an accomplished musician...simply marvelous. Many thanks again!!

  • that understated way of creating tremendous excitement. Just so good
