@amazake No, he debuted in an Umineko short story written by Ryukishi07 called "Forgery No. XXX." It explains that he is a manifestation of the "Battler Culprit Theory," one of the many theories used to explain what really happened on Rokkenjima. Naturally, that theory is the belief that Battler is the culprit.
