BEHIND THE SONG: THANK YOU JESUS
About five years ago, I recorded a demo of a fun guitar riff and when Paul Baloche came by my house to write, we started to write a song called "There You Were", based on that hook. For whatever reason, we never completely finished the song. While I was in the final stages of writing for my new CD, Paul gave me a call about 9:30 one night. He said he was in town and thought about stopping by my house just to say hi. I told him that we had a house full of relatives, but he was welcome to stop by. After a visit in the kitchen, we started playing some music, Paul on the guitar and me on the piano. Somehow we went back to that old guitar "riff." Paul came up with a fresh approach to the song and we quickly wrote Thank You Jesus. We still used the idea, "there you were", but it took on a different feel. Paul tries to imagine himself singing a song at his church on Sunday morning. He said, "I would love to have a song that simply says, 'Thank About five years ago, I recorded a demo of a fun guitar riff and when Paul Baloche came by my house to write, we started to write a song called "There You Were", based on that hook. I really wanted some help recording the song, so I asked Lenny LeBlanc to join me. It was a lot of fun! [DON MOEN]
