I have 2000xl never used 5000 but It seems to be more of a control box. The classic MPC's pads are more like drum/groove machines and what you put in is what you get out on them. Would like to have this new one any ways though just for the sounds and new tricks it provides lol. I wonder if I could make a whole song on this 5000 I'm talking grid maps, vocals and all without sending it to Protools? If so I'm SOLD on it haha! because I hate software.

acsually it's your own creativity that makes the finished product. i have the mpc 1000 and it's a GREAT machine! i really don't want another mpc cuz this works out just fine for me! i also make beats on a mpd 24 hooked up to reason 4 and it works out fine for me too! so wheter you have the mpc 500, the 1000 or 5000 or the roland mv... without some serious practice, dedication and creativity it all wont help you to a good beat!
